When Dr. Robin Matsuyama decided to take a beginner class in stained glass she didn’t know it would become a lifelong passion. She’s enjoyed making stained glass pieces for family and friends over the years but this year decided to enter The 12th National Arts Program Competition held at the VCU Health System. This Arts program is open to employees and family members of the Health System and all different media are displayed in the hospital. The art pieces are professionally judged by a panel of local artists, educators and cultural leaders. To her great pleasure, Dr. Matsuyama’s stained glass piece, “Peacocks” received 2nd place in the Adult Intermediate category. She’s back to enjoying working on some new designs and stained glass projects, and would encourage everyone to just try something new. You never know what might spark a passion that brings great personal rewards.
